Three companies that collect ship waste in the Rotterdam port area were fined over 2.8 million euros last Friday, 21 October, by the Rotterdam court.
The companies were condemned for dividing the market and price fixing in the Rotterdam port area. The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) first fined the companies in 2011 with 2.9 million euros to which the companies appealed.
Now the court has declared the violations did not last as long as the ACM previously assumed, resulting in a slighter lower fine. The companies can still appeal this ruling.
