The Port of Rotterdam Authority has ordered a new inspection vessel: the RPA 8. It is equipped with hybrid propulsion.
The main points of attention in the tender were the total costs over the entire life cycle of the ship, the reduction of emissions and the reduction of waves caused by the ship.
The RPA 8 replaces the RPA 3. The RPA 3 has reached the end of its technical and economic lifetime. The new vessel is expected to be taken into service in the course of 2017. Its construction takes place at the shipyard of the Kooiman Group in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands.
In addition to the RPA 8, a tender will soon be called for the adaptation of the incident control vessels RPA 10, 11, 12, 13 and 16.
