For Seatrade Groningen, Groot Ship Design has developed the Juice Express. The new design of this juice carrier was made to replace the Joint Frost, which has been in service for more than 33 years.
The new vessel will be able to transport cooled fruit juices, reefer containers and dry cargoes. The cargo area is divided into four cargo holds, of which three are fitted with stainless steel juice tanks. The remaining hold is a container/dry cargo hold. The underwater hull shape was optimised together with and tested at Marin (Maritime Research Institute Netherlands). The vessel carries the known Groot Cross-Bow and is expected to sail a service speed of approximately 11.5 knots.
Guangxin Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry Co., Ltd (GSHI) in China was contracted by Seatrade to build the vessel. The main dimensions of the Juice Express are:
- Length over all: 99.90 m
- Breadth moulded: 15.40 m
- Depth: 8.75 m
- Deadweight: 4600 tons
- Juice capacity: 2362 m3
The vessel is scheduled to be delivered Q2 2017.
