(With videos) Manouvering Queen Mary 2 into Blohm + Voss Shipyard's Elbe 17 Dry Dock was no mean feat – there were inches to spare.
With the water drained, a process that took several hours, its keel sits just 850 mm from dry ground. For several weeks, Cunard Line's flagship the Queen Mary 2 will stay at the Hamburg-based shipyard to be remastered.
During the first stage, the focus will be on removing much of Queen Mary 2’s fixtures. This deconstruction phase will also involve cleaning the ship’s hull and major structural work. The refit will further focus on making the ship more efficient with new technology being installed.
Below two videos of the ship arriving in Hamburg.
