(With videos) The construction of the Gemini Wind Park has reached an important milestone. The first wind turbines are now producing the park’s first sustainable energy.

In the next few months, a total of 150 wind turbines will be installed. The park is expected to be completed in 2017 and will deliver sustainable energy for 785,000 households in the next decades.

150 Wind Turbines

Following the construction of the electric infrastructure last year and the installation of the turbine foundations in a record time of 110 days, contractors Siemens and Van Oord will now install the remaining 150 wind turbines. The wind turbines are transported directly from the port of Esbjerg in Denmark to the wind park.

110 Kilometre Export Cables

Two 110 kilometre long export cables will relay power from the wind park to the shore. The energy generated will be distributed through the TenneT high voltage grid from Eemshaven.

Below two videos showing the first energy being won at Gemini.
