A new pelagic fishing trawler ordered by Scottish owner Mewstead LLP will be built to a Wärtsilä design with Wärtsilä propulsion machinery.

The ship is to be built at the Nauta Shipyard in Poland and when completed will be the largest and most efficient ship of its type in the world. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for mid-2017.

Optimised Hull Lines

The vessel design features optimised hull lines. Together with the efficient integrated engine and propulsion solution, fuel cosumption is reduced. Mewstead also chose this design for its bollard pull capability and improved working conditions for the crew, such as the reduced noise levels made possible by the 2-speed gearbox.

Design and Propulsion Package

The full Wärtsilä scope of supply includes the ship design, a 12-cylinder 32 main engine, two 8-cylinder 20 auxiliary engines, a 2-speed gearbox, a controllable pitch propeller (CPP) running in an HP nozzle, a complete stern tube including Sternguard seals and Sternsafe bearings and a Protouch propulsion control system.

The vessel will operate in the North Sea in the fishing grounds around the coast of Scotland.
