Huisman, Hull Vane and VAF Instrument are the three contenders for the Maritime Innovation Award.
The award is meant to showcase the innovative strength of maritime and offshore suppliers and will be presented to the winner at the tenth Maritime Awards Gala on 2 November in Rotterdam. The nominees were chosen from eleven entries.
Huisman – the Hybrid Boom Crane
Huisman's Hybrid Boom Crane offers a solution for safe and efficient deepwater offhore lifting operations by combining the advantages of the traditional knuckle boom and regular pedestal cranes.
Hull Vane – the Hull Vane
The Hull Vane is a fuel saving device in the form of a fixed foil, located below the stern of a ship. The Hull Vane influences the stern wave pattern and creates hydrodynamic lift, which is partially oriented forward. This results in a reduction in of the ship’s resistance.
VAF Instruments – the TT-Sense; Shaft Power Torque & Thrust Meter
VAF Instruments' TT-Sense is a reliable measuring instrument and continuously checks the propulsion installation's performance. It can also measure hull resistance.
