From eleven entries, the Maritime Innovation Award jury has selected four innovations.
The four selected companies will present their innovations to the jury on 14 September, after which the jury will announce the nominees. The winner will be announced at the Maritime Awards Gala on 2 November.
Initially, ten companies were announced as competing for the Maritime Innovation Award, later an eleventh was added to the list, which is now also one of the four selected companies: Hull Vane.
The four companies in alphabetical order:
- Huisman Equipment – Hybrid Boom Crane
The Hybrid Boom Crane offers a solution for safe and efficient deepwater offhore lifting operations by combining the advantages of the traditional knuckle boom and regular pedestal cranes. - Hull Vane – Hull Vane
The Hull Vane is a fuel saving device in the form of a fixed foil, located below the stern of a ship. The Hull Vane influences the stern wave pattern and creates hydrodynamic lift, which is partially oriented forward. This results in a reduction in of the ship’s resistance. - VAF Istruments – TT-Sense: Shaft Power Torque & Thrust Meter
The TT-Sense is a reliable measuring instrument and continuously checks the propulsion installation's performance. It can also measure hull resistance. - Van der Velden Marine Systems – Flex Tunnel
The Flex Tunnel is a retractable tunnel that is embedded into the hull of the vessel and lowers resistance and increases efficiency.
