CoCo Yachts and AFAI Southern Shipyard Guangzhou Panyu have signed a new building contract with Cosco Xiamen for a Coastal Cruiser 322 aluminium fast ferry.

Cosco Xiamen will replace its current fast ferry with the newly built Coastal Cruiser 322 on its passenger service between Xiamen P.R. China and Kinmen Taiwan.

Lower Noise Levels

The Coastal Cruiser 322 will have a passenger saloon on the main deck with economy seats and a spacious business class/VIP arrangement on the upper deck. Special attention is giving to the noise levels, which are expected to be much lower than the current vessel. On the main deck aft provision shall be arranged for cargo, luggage and bicycles.

Fuel Savings

The Coastal Cruiser 322 will be powered by two MTU main engines, each driving one Rolls Royce S71 water jet through a ZF gearbox. The hull lines have been optimised by using FineMarine CFD software, which is said to lower fuel consumption by ten per cent compared to similar fast ferries with equal capacity.

The high speed aluminium passenger catamaran will be designed and built in accordance with China Classification Society rules and regulations for High Speed Craft, and will be built in Guangzhou. CoCo Yachts’ Coastal Cruiser 322 is expected to be delivered to Cosco Xiamen in Q1-2016.
