The Netherlands is by tradition a maritime country. Its prosperity is largely based on its position at the shores of the North Sea.
The North Sea is one of the busiest shipping regions in the world, contains serious amounts of oil & gas reserves, is a perfect location for offshore wind farms and is well-known for its state-of-the-art commercial fishery. It is also the gateway to Europe via its ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp and Hamburg and considered as an important economic lifeline.
The North Sea and the surrounding countries are the perfect environment to initiate and to create innovations for a sustainable exploration and exploitation of seas and oceans. The TNO-roadmap Maritime & Offshore: Blue Growth+ aims, together with Dutch knowledge partners and the maritime industry, in positioning the Netherlands at an innovative, durable maritime top position in the world.
To present and discuss the latest insights and views on this topic, TNO will again organise its yearly Maritime & Offshore Innovation Day. The event takes place Thursday 17 September from 15:00 – 19:00 hours at the RDM Campus in Rotterdam.
