The platform supply vessel Blue Queen has received the highest ESI (Environmental Ship Index) score of 100 points from the World Port Climate Initiative (WPCI).
The vessel is of the Ulstein PX121 design and was constructed at Ulstein Verft. It is owned by Blue Ship Invest AS and managed by Golden Energy Offshore. It features an X-Bow hull, a diesel electric propulsion system and a ballast water treatment plant. Ulstein Verft has built a series of ten PX121 platforms supply vessels, of which Blue Queen, delivered in 2015, is the ninth.
Top ESI Score
The top score is derived from a calculation of the reduced emissions of for instance NOx, SOx and CO2. A number of elements must work together in order to receive a top score. For this vessel, the score was achieved by the dedication from the ship’s crew, the manager’s awareness through their management systems, which are certified with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and OHSAS 18001, and the ship’s design and on-board system solutions.
Due to the ESI score, the vessel receives a fifty per cent discount in calls to a number of ports, and the same discount in the Pilotage Readiness Fee. Additionally, Statoil has called on all ship owners and vessels to keep an updated ESI, and has informed that in the future this will be a requirement for all vessels chartered by Statoil.
