The Maritime Innovation Award judging panel is to review ten entries this year.

Dutch maritime companies have entered their innovations to win the award for the most innovative product, process or service for the maritime industry. The judges will announce the nominees mid September. The winner will be announced at the Maritime Awards Gala on 2 November at the RDM in Rotterdam.

The ten entries in alphabetical order:

  • Damen Shipyards Group – Damen InvaSave
The InvaSave is a mobile ballast water treatment system fitted in a container which enables port based ballast water management. The mobile solution means ballast water only needs treating at the point of discharge, in contrast to fixed onboard BWT installations that also need to treat ballast water at intake.
  • HMC – Ship Dismantling Instruments (SDI)
SDI is a combination of services and products and is aimed at sound dismantling of offshore objects (ships, platforms and offshore production means).
  • Huisman Equipment – Hybrid Boom Crane
The Hybrid Boom Crane offers a solution for safe and efficient deepwater offhore lifting operations by combining the advantages of the traditional knuckle boom and regular pedestal cranes.
  • Marine Solutions – Self Unloading Bulk System
By applying new technology, ships can efficiently unload on their own.
  • McNetiq – McNetiq Controlock
The McNetiq Controlock anchor point is the first magnet anchor with measurement of force. This makes it a safe and certifiable temporary steel connection.
  • ODS – Steel Preservation Process
ODS has adjusted its steel preservation process so that emissions of volatile organic compounds and CO2 are reduced to zero per cent. This innovation was made possible by using the water carried Shopprimer Sigma Aquaweld 100 developed by PPG Protective and Marine Coatings.
  • Ortega Submerisibles – Non-Atmospheric Diver Deployment System
Ortega Submersibles builds and develops non-atmospheric Diver Deployment systems: fast, safe and electrically driven single- or multi-person open submersible boats without pressure chambers.
  • Power Packer – Electric Drive Unit
The Electric Drive Unit (EDU) is a compact, self-supporting electro-hydraulic actuator. EDUs are used in applications for for instance the opening, closing and locking of ship doors and hatches and moving balconies, masts and gangways.
  • VAF Istruments – TT-Sense: Shaft Power Torque & Thrust Meter
The TT-Sense is a reliable measuring instrument and continuously checks the propulsion installation's performance. It can also measure hull resistance.
  • Van der Velden Marine Systems – Flex Tunnel
The Flex Tunnel is a retractable tunnel that is embedded into the hull of the vessel and lowers resistance and increases efficiency.
