(With video) Damen Shipyards recently launched the new ropax ferry that will sail on the route Farewell – Change Islands – Stag Harbour (Fogo Island) from September on.
The launch took place 27 March at Damen Shipyards Galati. A second identical ferry is currently under construction. This vessel, the Legionaire, will sail between Bell Island and Portugal Cove and will delivered in February. Both 4437 bt, 80 metres Ice Class ferries were ordered in December 2013 by the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Government in Lewisporte. The ships can transport 215 passengers, 64 cars and six trailers.
