Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has inaugurated the MSC Oliver, the second of the company’s 19,224 teu series of vessels, at the DSME shipyard in Busan, South Korea.
This ship follows just two months after the delivery of MSC Oscar, the current world's largest container ship, a title it will now share with the MSC Oliver. The MSC Oliver is the second of a total of twenty mega- vessels which are scheduled for delivery by the end of the year.
MSC Oliver goes into service on the Albatross Service which operates between Asia-Europe later this week.
The vessels are so far named after the grandchildren of MSC founder Gianluigi Aponte.
