Marin is about to start a Joint Industry Project concerning the assessment, prediction and monitoring of yacht comfort.
Despite the availability of criteria to assess a yacht's comfort, it still remains a very subjective matter. By focusing on what can be measured or calculated (ship motions) and relatively well predicted matters, such as the short-term weather forecast, it is possible to design a monitoring and prediction tool to assist captains in taking decisions with regards to routing and anchorage.
