(With videos) On Friday 20 February, container ship Alsvin got stuck under the Vlakebrug in the Dutch province of Zeeland

Rail traffic was temporarily suspended until Prorail engineers could ascertain there was no damage to the bridge. Tug boats were able to pull the ship free in the afternoon, when the water was at the same level as when the ship got stuck on the rocks.

Skipper Unwell

The skipper had become unwell and was taken to hospital. It is unclear whether this was the cause of the ship running aground. Blood samples have been taken to check whether he had drunk too much alcohol. A standard procedure, according to the police.
