(With video) To maximise cargo capacity, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) introduces SkyBench, a sliding deckhouse that creates extra room for containers.

The SkyBench container carrier overcomes the limitations of space utilisation by using a mobile concept at the accommodation section in a 2-island type. HHI´sThe SkyBench offers an extra cargo capacity of about 350 and 450 TEU respectively in 14,000 and 19,000 TEU class ultra large container carriers.

Offset for LNG Tanks

LNG becomes an ever more popular marine fuel due to its reduced emissions. When ships are retrofitted for LNG, some cargo space is lost to the large LNG tanks required. The SkyBench could function as an offset for this lost space.
