(With video) Vripack has used recent findings in improved ship-motion-comfort from its work boats to create an ultra modern lines plan for a yacht. Afterwards a scale model was produced and tested in Marin's test basin.

Vripack applied the ship-motion-comfort findings of its workboats to the voluminous 55 m 870 GT yacht Emotion with a Dobroserdov designed exterior. They then put the digital hull shape in the full scale Computational Fluid Dynamic or CFD calculation software. This computerised optimisation process resulted in a reduced wave resistance of twenty per cent compared to well proved hand formulas. This reduced wave resistance also reduced fuel comsumption.

By a 5-axis milling machine a 1:10 bright yellow scale model was made and tested in Marin's fully computer controlled water basin of 170 by 40 meters.

Below a video focused on the tests conducted at Marin, which also shows the yacht in some very demanding head seas.
