The Maritime Innovation Award jury has received thirteen entries from Dutch maritime and offshore suppliers.
In September, the jury will announce a shortlist with nominees. The award will be awarded to what the jury considers the most innovative product, process or service in maritime industry.
The Maritime Innovation Award Entries
The entries are (in alphabetical order):
- AEC Maritime BV – Closed Loop Scrubber
A smart all-in-one scrubber that cleanses the exhaust gases of HFO diesel engines and reduces sulphur emissions to a maximum of 0.1 per cent. - AntiRoll BV – AntiRoll
This patented roll stabilisation system for yachts over 30 metres has been developed in cooperation with Marin, TNO, TU Delft and TU Eindhoven. With the unique double axed fins, AntiRoll stabilises the ship both when sailing and when at anker. - Efficienship BV – Efficienship Fuel Efficiency Service
Efficienship Fuel Efficiency Service is a service which allows ship owners to get a grip on fuel consumption on board his ships. It consists of a fuel computer on board and a cloud-based ship efficiency dashboard. - Falck Safety Services – Scenario Based Training STCW
Combined training for mandatory repeat training IMO STCW. This is a unique training concept and offers a continuously innovative training environment, adapted to events in the industry. - GreenTec BV – GreenTec Custom-Built Resonance System (Resonantie Maatwerk Systeem)
Specifically designed to achieve a more complete combustion of fuel in all types of internal combustion engines. Fuel comsumption and (soot) emissions are demonstrably reduced without the use of a scrubber and/or catalyst system. - Groenervaren BV – Interactive Platform for the Maritime Sector
Groenervaren.nl is an interactive platform where knowledge of innovation and sustainability cab be shared between maritime companies, knowledge institutes and government. The companies receive support from professionals in editing and (online) marketing to create a strong online presence. - Huisman – Multi-Lay System and 4000 mt Offshore Mast Crane
The Multi-Lay System combines Reel-lay and J-Lay functions and utilises a spool system which allows spools to be interchanged at sea. As new pipe spools can be supplied and interchanged at sea, employability and productivity are increased. - Hydrex – Ecoshield
A sustainable cavitation proof coating that offers lifelong rudder protection. The coatings gives rudders a lasting protection against damage caused by cavitation. - Molenaar Strategie BV – SmartProjects
RFID/Barcode appliance which helps (maritime) companies with the efficient registration of the location and status of project materials on item level, (near) real time, at all locations. - Netwave Systems BV – VDR, NW-6000
The NW-6000 is a new type Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) which complies and surpasses the regulation that came into effect 1 July 2014. - Ruysch Consultancy – REDS-Maritime
An internal combustion engine diagnostic system that offers detailed insight into the state of the engine’s components through the use of sensors. This allows for efficient maintenance and early detection of inefficiencies in the engine. - Seafox Contractors BV – Seafox 8
Three-legged work island for accommodation and well services, specifically designed to meet regulations concerning the closing and dismantling of old energy wells in the North Sea. Due to its versatility, the unit can be broken down 25 to 30 per cent faster than a conventional unit. - Veth Propulsion BV – Portable Propulsion Solution for (Jack-Up) Barges
To meet market demand for self-propelled platforms, Veth Propulsion designed this transportable and complete propulsion concept through integral cooperation with several suppliers and specialists.
Maritime Awards Gala
The Maritime Innovation Award 2014 will be presented at the Maritime Awards Gala together with the KNVTS Ship of the Year Award, the Wim Timmers Designers Award, the KVNR Shipping Award and the Dutch Royal Navy’s Van Hengel-Spengler Award. The Gala takes place 6 November at Taets, Zaandam, the Netherlands.
