(With videos) Croon Elektrotechniek and Bakker Sliedrecht have completed the electrical installation for the Seven Waves, designed and built by IHC Merwede.
The Seven Waves is the fifth ship for which Croon and Bakker designed and realised the electrical installations, commissioned by IHC Merwede, for Subsea7. Previously delivered ships for Subsea7 were the Seven Oceans, Seven Seas, Seven Atlantic and the Seven Pacific.
Seven Waves
The Seven Waves is a flex-lay vessel which will be used in the development of deep-sea oilfields of up to 2500 metres off the coast of Brazil on behalf of Petrobras. The vessel has an overall length of 146 meter, a beam of 30 meter and a class-2 dynamic positioning system. It has a vertical lay system with 550 t top tension capacity and twin ROV systems.
High-End Technology
For this new build for IHC Merwede, Croon and Bakker were subcontracted as electrical system integrators. The Seven Waves is a ship with high-end technology and the engineering, integration and installation of high and low voltage systems, switchgear, distribution panels and its power management system have been done by Croon and Bakker.
By now the Seven Waves has left for Brazil, fully prepared for many years of duty.
