(With extra pictures) After a two month voyage by sea, five giant cranes have arrived at the ECT Delta Terminal at Maasvlakte I, Rotterdam, from Shanghai.
The cranes are 135 m high topped up and can lift up to 50 m high below the spreader. Thet have a reach of 25 containers wide, which is more than sufficient to service the largest 18,000 teu container ships. These ships are already serviced at Maasvlakte I, but with the new cranes, ECT is expanding its facilities for the Ultra Large Container Ships (ULCSs).
Investment Programme
The new cranes will be placed on the south side of the ECT Delta Terminal in the Amazonehaven. The Amazonehaven has been widened to offer unrestricted access to the largest container vessels under all circumstances. The crane investments are part of ECT's larger investment programme, which also incorporates Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Automatic Stacking Cranes (ATCs) and systems.
