(With extra pictures) This weekend, Norwegian Cruise Lines’ latest addition to the fleet, the Norwegian Getaway, arrived in Rotterdam. Today, the vessel set sail for its maiden voyage.
The vessel was docked this weekend at the Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam.
Key and Plaque Ceremony
On Saturday 11 January, Cruise Port Rotterdam and the Rotterdam Port Authority officially welcomed the vessel with a Key and Plaque Ceremony. During this ceremony, the captain of the Norwegian Getaway received the official city plaque from harbour master René de Vries.
Today, 13 January, the ship set sail for Southampton, New York and home port Miami.
Norwegian Getaway
The Norwegian Getaway is characterised by its unusual paint job. The ship was built by the Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. The ship is 324 m long and 40 m wide and can accommodate 4028 passengers.
