Every year, SWZ Maritime publishes a country special in its December issue. With 2013 being the Netherlands-Russia Year and Saint Petersburg appointed Maritime Hotspot, this year's country is Russia.
Apart from a general overview of the vast country's maritime industry, SWZ Maritime's diverse Russia special features:
- an overview of Dutch maritime terms that have found their way into the Russian language;
- a report of the Delft maritime student association William Froude's excursion to Saint Petersburg earlier this year;
- an overview of the Russian fisshing fleet;
- an article on Russia's presence in the port of Rotterdam;
- an article on Dutch inland ship owners who have had their ships built in Russia;
- an article on the Dutch ship wreck Vrouw Maria that sunk in Russian waters and may still contain art treasures belonging to Catherine the Great; and
- an article on Dutch dredgers' projects in Russia.
In addition to the special, the December issue contains a report on the annual KVNR member meeting and regular section such as "Maand Maritiem", "Maritieme Markt, News and a new Mars Report (read it online now).
