(With exclusive video) World’s Biggest Ship will premiere in the Benelux on Discovery Channel this evening. The programme will document the building of the world’s largest container ship, the Maersk Triple E Maersk McKinney Møller.

The ship was built at the shipyard in South Korea. Apart from the building process, the series will also portray the people involved, such as the naval architect and supervisors.

Exclusive Video

Among the footage to be broadcast are seven videoclips that feature building of the hull, the two $1 million diesel engines, environmental adaptations, installations, safety systems, et cetera. Discovery Channel has granted permission to SWZ Maritime to publish the first of these that covers assembling the hull. Although we have published it earlier, you can find it again below.

When we first reported on this new tv series, our editor Hugo Dill had been invited for a special press event. Read this earlier report and view the pictures Hugo took here.

Watch World’s Biggest Ship tonight at 10 pm on Discovery Channel.
