Measures taken to prepare the Concordia to face the winter season are currently close to completion.
Costa Crociere and the Titan Micoperi Consortium have informed that the Concordia is stable on the platforms, as confirmed by the results of constant monitoring. The winterisation measures have also contributed to wreck stability.
Underwater Platforms and Grout Stoppers
28 tubular steel braces have been positioned and connect the wreck through the sponsons to the underwater platforms on sea side, while the positioning of grout stoppers on the shore side was completed last Sunday (10 November). The installation of an additional hold-back system for the bow, is the third operation currently in progress.
Overall, the winterisation measures are expected to be completed before the end of November.
Environmental Monitoring
Environmental monitoring is also ongoing and results do not create worries. As always all monitoring and recovery plans are in place to retrieve any material that should eventually come out from the wreck.
