The HARC-team Rotterdam, a cooperation between customs, port police, FIOD and the Public Prosecutor, has started an investigation into the find of 250 kg cocaine and € 110,000 on board a ship.
Nine Packages of Cocaine
The cocain was found 6 August by a visitation crew of the Port of Rotterdam Customs Office. In a space below deck between two cargo holds of a ship coming from South America, customs found nine large packages with cocaine.
In addition, in total over € 110,000 was found in cash with several crew members.
Drug Smuggling and Money Laundering
Seven Filippine crew members aged from 20 to 42 have been arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling and money laundering. The cocaine and the money have been confiscated. After being weighed and sampling, the cocaine was immediately destroyed.
