During 2012, Dutch yards produced superyachts above 30 m with a total value of approximately € 936 million. Germany ranked second at approximately € 710 million and Italy third at approximately € 673 million.

This became clear from the fifth edition of The (Super)Yachting Index, which was developed by Camper & Nicholsons International in collaboration with SuperyachtTimes.com.

Large Average Sizes and High Average Prices

In 2012, the Dutch had a market share of almost 27% in value, but only 15% in volume. This is due to the large average size per project of 55 m and the high average price per yacht. A Dutch yacht cost approximately € 46,800,000, a German yacht € 118,333,333 and an Italian yacht € 21.066.667.

The Netherlands World’s Second Largest Superyachtbuilder

With 20 deliveries, the Dutch come in third in terms of deliveries in 2012 after Italy with 50 deliveries and Turkey with 22 deliveries. However, they were the world’s second largest builder of superyachts in 2012 with a market share of 15.35% (20 yachts measuring 1,108m). Although Turkey delivered two more superyachts than The Netherlands, Turkey has a lower market share of 12.37% based on the length overall of 893 m delivered.

Between January and December 2012 there were 152 new contracts signed for yachts over 30 metres. In the Netherlands 17 contracts were signed, while Italy signed 59, the US signed 20 and Turkey signed 19.
