For the next ten years, Wagenborg will support NAM in its offshore operations. To perform these activities, Wagenborg has ordered a Walk-to-Work Vessel from Niestern Sander in Delfzijl, the Netherlands.

The ship will play a crucial role in maintenance and service of NAM’s production platforms in the North Sea. The ship will be delivered early 2015.

Walk-to-Work Vessel

The Walk-to-Work Vessel is meant to make servicing production platforms safer, more efficient, more effective and more productive. The ship combines different functionalities. There is accommodation for twenty crew members and two crews of in total forty engineers. Chemicals can be stored and transported safely and a heave compensated crane can lift heavy equipment. A mobile installation can restart wells.

With the Walk-to-Work Vessel employees can service multiple platforms on a route. The ship is workshop, warehouse, hotel and transport in one.

Ampelmann System

The completely integrated Ampelmann system allows for safe working at sea in waves of up to 2.5 m. Thanks to this technology employees can safely cross from ship to platform all year through, “walk to work at sea”.

Employment

Wagenborg has ordered the ship at Royal Niestern Sander. At the shipyard of Niestern Sander approximately eighty employees will work on the ship for the coming eighteen months. In addition, a large number of subcontractors and suppliers are involved in the project. The direct employment is estimated at 250 man years.
