Ship designers can still send in their entry for the VNSI Wim Timmersprijs, but only until Friday 26 April.
Dutch shipbuilding and offshore industry suppliers are mostly active in markets where the design is key for acquiring contracts. That is why a designer has a central role within the company. Designers can learn a lot from each other about how a design comes to be and the tools that are used.
Best Designer
To stimulate both communication between designers and talent, ir. Wim Timmers, former yard director, took up the initiative to annually award the VNSI Wim Timmersprijs to the best designer. The award is meant for designers, doctoral candidates and graduates who feel their work deserves more attention and discussion.
The VNSI Wim Timmersprijs focuses on the way a design or system parts of a ship come to be. Possible entries include a novel design method for a particular ship type or a ship's system.
