The Technasium students of the Bogerman Sneek will organise the first Vripack boat building day on Saturday 22 June. The grand première takes place on the Potten fields of Sneek/Offingawier.
Bart Bouwhuis of Vripack says: ‘The idea of a Vripack boat building day had already been on our minds for a long time. The cooperation with the Technasium students resulted in a perfect win-win situation, giving this event the body it deserves.’
Connection between Nautical Industry and Youth
The purpose of the boat building day is to organise a family oriented event with an inspiring and instructive background where the connection between the nautical industry and youth is at the centre. Although various activities are organised, the main goal is to build your own boat in one day.
Educational Challenge
‘Organising the boat building day is an educational challenge for the Technasium students. The organisation of this event creates a beautiful bridge between education and the labour market. Through the cooperation with Vripack we created an ideal platform on which not only Technasium, but also many other facets of Bogerman can be brought to attention,’ says Jan Gerben de Vries, teacher of Technasium and coordinator of this project.
Building Kit
Vripack’s team worked together with the Technasium students in order to develop a building kit. The complete building kit costs € 100 and can be ordered through the specially designed website (www.botenbouwdag.nl) until 1 June 2013.
All building kits are provided with a number, which is linked to the family that ordered the boat. There will be a limited number of building kits, so order soon.
The organisation of the boat building day gives away one building kit. In order to win this free building kit you have to check out Vripack’s Twitter and Facebook page.
Sailing Kids Foundation
The proceeds of the boat building day together with a fixed amount for every sold kit will be donated to the Sailing Kids foundation.
