Damen Shipyards, DNV and Marin are supporting five top students from Delft University of Technology in developing their skills in Arctic engineering.

Reinier Bos, John Huisman, Martijn Obers, Tobias Schaap and Max van der Zalm have been selected to participate in a special Honours programme for Bachelor students. As part of this programme, they have set up a special Arctic project to draw up the design requirements and operational profile of an Arctic Offshore Supply Vessel.

Since the beginning of the academic year they have been in Finland studying Arctic engineering courses at Aalto University in Helsinki and they are making an inventory of the standards in use today. Early this year they move on to Damen to investigate existing designs of Offshore Supply Vessels and to work on the creation of their own Arctic conceptual design. Their journey will conclude with a period at Marin, where some technical challenges will be investigated in further detail.
