FKAB has secured a contract for the design of a 2400m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) for the Taiwanese Kaohsiung Harbour Authority which will be built at Taiwan’s Ching Fu Shipyard. FKAB Sweden has performed the basic drawings, whereas the company’s China office will carry out detail and production design with Nupas-Cadmatic.
Even though FKAB, part of the Swedish Mattson Gruppen, has had Nupas-Cadmatic licenses for a couple of years, they were all used in the Dalian office. Now the Shanghai office will use the licenses for the dredger’s design and production engineering.
Saving Engineering Hours
Combined with the open interface with other systems and the software’s eBrowser, the company expects to save engineering hours in development and production. Particularly in this case, where the shipyard is using the same software. Since FKAB will carry out all design and production engineering, they will extensively use the software’s 3D modeling and production information.
