Four companies have been nominated for the HME Maritime Innovation Award: Huisman Equipment, Vosta LMG, Kranendonk Production Systems and Imtech Marine & Offshore. They were selected from sixteen entries. The winner will be announced at the Maritime Awards Gala on 8 November 2012.
On 14 September, the nominated companies will defend their innovative products in front of a jury consisting of prominent experts from shipping, ship building, maritime services, offshore and maritime research. The winner is chosen on the basis of wide applicability in Dutch maritime industry, it has to have the potential to sell well and needs to have sufficient export potential.
Dual Multi-Purpose Tower
Huisman Equipment was nominated for the Dual Multi-Purpose Tower (DMPT). The DMPT is a drill tower without the limitations of a traditional drill tower when handling drilling equipment. This makes drilling significantly more efficient, safer and easier in terms of logistics.
Greenforce Ball Joint
The development of the Greenforce Ball Joint has resulted in a nomination foor Vosta LMG. The revolutionary new design provides full wear liner protection and will result in less power and fuel consumption, less CO2 emission, less wear and has the possibility to apply a modern, self lubricating bearing system, avoiding the need for grease.
Ship Energy Management System
Imtech Marine & Offshore has developed the Ship Energy Management System for which it is now nominated. Through intelligent automation and without intervention from the captain, the system controls hybrid energy sources to create an optimal and energy and cost efficient sailing profile that also reduces emissions.
Pipe Shop
Kranendonk Production Systems’ automated Pipe Shop is the fourth nominee. This is the first robotic system in the world that can automatically assemble flanges to tubes. From CAD drawing to welded pipes in one system.
The HME Maritime Innovation Award is annualy awarded to the most innovative maritime supplier in the Netherlands. The award is presented to the winner at the Maritime Awards Gala together with the KNVTS Ship of the Year Award, the KVNR Shipping Award, and the VNSI Timmersprijs.
