The ship was en route from Panama to Spain, about 550 nautical miles from nearest land southeast of Bermuda. The seafarer, Tanawoot Pratoom, had fallen overboard and spent around eight hours in the Atlantic Ocean before being found. Thanks in part to the US Coast Guard’s drift simulation technology, the crewman’s long fight to stay afloat was rewarded with a reunion with his shipmates.
