The aim of the DISCO Joint Industry Project is to better understand and predict the hydrodynamic behaviour of a disconnected turret buoy in close proximity of the FPSO during the disconnect and reconnect phase. The effect of size and shape of the buoy as well as its mooring system will be investigated.

The scope of work comprises CFD analysis, model testing, full-scale measurements and the development and delivery of a tuned numerical time domain module. This three year project was kicked off during the last FPSO JIP Week.
