Operator BCTN and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a new contract for the operation of the Container Transferium Alblasserdam. The original terminal of 6.5 hectares will be reduced in size to an area of 4 hectares. The length of the quay has also been modified, from the original 367 metres to 255 metres.

This new design fits in better with the maximum throughput of 200,000 TEU as set out in the zoning plan. The parties are already working on the preparations for the construction of the quay and the terminal. They expect the terminal to be operational at the start of 2014.

BCTN

BCTN is market leader in Dutch hinterland terminals with its own facilities in Den Bosch, Nijmegen and Wansum and a joint terminal in Hengelo.

Marketing Adjacent Sites

The Port of Rotterdam Authority will approach the market actively to put the adjacent sites into use. This concerns around 7 hectares of land. To that aim it will work together with the local company DB Holding (around 4 hectares of ground). The sites are also on offer on www.portrealestate.com
