MAN Diesel & Turbo has received an order from US-based cruise liner company Norwegian Cruise Line for the maintenance of the engines on nine of the fleet’s cruise liners as well as two further ships that are yet to be put into service. The order is worth USD 30 million.
The service agreement runs for four years and is being handled by the MAN PrimeServ service office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. During the term of the agreement, two further Norwegian cruise ships will be put into service which will then also be incorporated into the contract.
First Common Rail Conversion
To date, MAN Diesel has produced 52 engines with 542 cylinders from various series for Norwegian Cruise Line’s vessels, including the world’s first Common Rail conversion. The company’s next ship, “Norwegian Breakaway”, will be launched in April 2013.
