Representatives of shipping companies from all over Northern Germany and the Netherlands have founded the co-operative “CF Container Feeder eG”. So far, 200 member companies have joined to coordinate and bundle the shipping activities of their container feeders.

The formal founding of the organisation took place at the end of 2011. Since then, almost 200 ship companies, shipping companies and charterers have become members. Other companies can still sign up.

Joint Presence and Action

This economic climate forces shipping companies to strengthen their market position and the co-operative is a means to strengthen joint presence and action. Banks have welcomed and supported the initiative. Initiators hope the co-operative contributes to improving the economic situation. Starting points for the organisation are unbureaucratic regulations and structures, the autonomy and independence of the participating companies is not resctricted in any way, and joining through the purchase of a co-operative share is tob e kept cost effective.

General Manager

A full-time general manager has assumed management of the organisation: Joachim van Grieken. In the past, he worked in senior management positions at shipyards and issuing companies.

To Come

Additional discussions will be held shortly to implement further activities. It is also intended to introduce the co-operative to banks and issuing houses.

European Minibulk eG

Around the same time, European Minibulk eG was founded as well. This co-operative has the same objectives, but for a different type of ship.
