Dick Boon is the winner of the HISWA Excellence Award 2011. Since 1961 he is a versatile yacht designer and founder of the worldwide renowned design bureau Vripack in Sneek, the Netherlands. He made Dutch yacht building what it is today.
The award is a lifetime achievement award presented to a person who have been successful and innovative in the water sports industry. This year, the jury consisted of jury president Ineke Dezentjé Hamming, Jan Dirk Smit and last year’s winner Henk Hokwerda.
Maritime Awards Gala
Though the winner was announced earlier, the award was presented last night during the sixth Maritime Awards Gala at Studio 21 in Hilversum. In total, five awards were presented. Apart from the Hiswa Excellence Award, the VNSI Timmersprijs, the KNVTS Ship of the Year Award, the KVNR Shipping Award and the HME Maritime Innovation Award were presented.
