Last night, the Maritime Awards Gala 2011 took place at Studio 21 in Hilversum. For the sixth time, maritime industry gathered to present five maritime awards to its winners, to wine and dine, and network in a festive atmosphere. The event was sold out. Hostess for this sixth edition was Anita Witzier. The awards, the VNSI Timmersprijs, the KVNR Shipping Award, the HME Maritime Innovation Award, the HISWA Excellence Award and the KNVTS Ship of the Year Award, were presented by business woman of the year Thecla Bodewes and president of the maritime awards foundation Cees Moolenburgh.
Entertainment
Of course the Maritime Awards Gala was accompanied by several entertainment acts and music. The guests were welcomed by people on stilts in beautiful costumes and musical duo Betina and Markus that also formed the backdrop to the dinner. Later on guests could have their champagne flutes filled by an acrobatic woman suspended upside down from the ceiling.
A tapdance act welcomed to guests to the award ceremony and dinner and short video presentations presented the award nominees. At the end of the dinner there was another musical act by The Three Waiters. The dinner was concluded by a walking dessert in the foyer with musical accompaniment from Crazy Pianos.
