After extensive renovations, the Scheepvaartmuseum (the National Maritime Museum) in Amsterdam has been reopened. Read about the changes that were made, the collection and new experiences the museum has to offer in SWZ Maritime’s October issue. The https://www.hetscheepvaartmuseum.nl/[Scheepvaartmuseum] closed its doors for an extensive renovation in 2007. The museum now has interactive exhibits that allow everyone to explore 500 years of maritime history. Object exhibitions show some of the museum’s world famous collections. There are special exhibitions for children, such as the Golden Age, The tale of the whale and Sal & Lori and Circus at Sea. The museum now even has an exciting ride: Voyage at Sea, and the famous replica of the VOC ship Amsterdam is back at the quay.
