SWZ Maritime’s November issue reported our visit to the 7th conference of European Maritime Heritage (EMH). Theme of the conference was interesting young people in maritime heritage. One project, featured creating a replica of the Shtandart. Watch https://www.swzonline.nl/weblog/show.php?id=3[some videos of this sailing ship] on SWZonline.
Between 1994 and 1999 a replica was built of the Shtandart in St. Petersburg. The project was aimed at young people and taught them to take responsibility. Today, the ship is still being used for long journeys at sea with young crews. Many of the people involved in the building of the ship, have moved on to a career in shipbuilding and/or shipping.
