The past week the number of laid up container vessels has gone up yet again. According to Lloyd’s Marine Intelligence, currently 663 ships have been laid up, representing 1.31 million teu compared to 1.27 million before Christmas.
November saw the highest number yet: 730 container ships. Market analyst Alphaliner expects the number will increase further with a high point in February.
