This year there are two nominees for the HISWA Excellence Award: super yacht builder Frans Heesen of Heesen Yachts and pioneer in motor vessels Bouw van Wijk sr. and Van Wijk Maritiem. The one that is most innovative and pioneering in water sports will win the award.
After careful consideration the jury picked these two finalists from dozens of nominations. The jury consisted of:
– Ineke Dezentjé Hamming, chairwoman, and member of the Dutch House of Commons for the VVD,
– Jan Dirk Smit, former chairman of the HISWA Vereniging,
– Gerard Dijkstra, owner/director of Gerard Dijkstra & Partners and winner of the HISWA Excellence Award 2008 (picture).
Maritime Awards Gala
The HISWA Excellence Award 2009 will be presented at the Maritime Awards Gala on Wednesday 28 October 2009 in De Doelen in Rotterdam. During the gala another four awards will be presented: the KNVTS-Ship of the Year Award, the VNSI-Timmersprijs, the HME-Maritime Innovation Award and the KVNR Shipping Award.
