IHC Merwede and the Belgian company Pruftechnnik signed a partnership agreement for vibration measurements with the aim of safeguarding uninterrupted dredger operations.
J. Hylkema, the Divisional Director of Technology & Services at IHC Merwede: ‘The basic thinking is that preventive maintenance can prevent most unplanned dredger shut-downs. We supply the ‘IHC Condition Monitoring Programme’ as part of the IHC Life Cycle Support concept. The programme is based on eight measurement technologies, including vibration measurements. Vibration measurements are conducted with special equipment that is used on the main rotating parts on board, such as pumps and gearboxes. This makes it possible to detect possible anomalies in the tight tolerances of the high-grade rotating parts at an early stage, and then to analyse them. Using the analysis, we can forecast the best time to replace particular parts or to decide whether repairs are needed.’
IHC Merwede is world market leader in the construction of specialist dredging equipment. Pruftechnik is the pioneer and market leader in laser alignment and a leading company in the field of condition monitoring, vibration analysis and on-site roll alignment, generally in the industrial and maritime sectors.
