A sometimes intensive but pleasant discussion, under leadership of Bionda van Roosendaal (Safety Manager at SMIT), attracted 150 participants to the seminar ‘Shore Support’ at the Navingo Maritime and Offshore Career event on the 8th of April 2009.
The discussion at the seminar ‘Shore Support’ was categorised into five subjects: Carrier opportunities, Technology, Shore internships, Reward and Breaking with traditions. All five discussion points led to a positive outcome for the need for the Shore Support project.
The other panel members were Cees Horvers head of crew affairs at Wagenborg and Harold Busser captain owner of the MV Lelie and MV Lotus. Their contribution consisted of answering questions and pointing out new discussion points.
Need for Change
At the end of the seminar the participants concluded a need for change is vital for the continuation and future of the composition of crewmembers onboard of the Short Sea Ships.
