Greenship will install two Sedinox ballast water management systems onboard vessels owned by Chemgas Shipping, the Netherlands.
Chemgas Shipping has already used the sediment reduction system Sedimentor for over two years and with success. Reducing sediment in ballast tanks decreases the draft of their vessel caused by sediment by almost 70 mm. This reduces the fuel consumption by almost three per cent.
In December 2008 Chemgas asked Greenship to arrange the upgrade the Sedimentor system on these vessels to a Sedinox ballast water management system. Delivery will take place first half 2009.
About Sedinox
The Greenship Sedinox ballast water management system is only used during ballasting sessions and by-passed during discharges. This system adds no chemicals, has no moving parts, its compact design fits easily into the engine room and the low power consumption is maximally 2 kW per 100 m3.
Accredited by IMO
The system meets the requirements defined by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The ballast water management system has been granted Basic Approval by IMO last October 2008. Greenship’s first opportunity for Final Approval is the MEPC 59 (July 2009).
