The Nautic Arm is an attachment system which enables free determination of an actual towing point within a vessel. As a result a vessel will not heel or capsize, regardless the direction or force applied. This will substantially improve safety on tugboats, especially during escorting maneuvers.
When the Center of Lateral Resistance (CLR) of a tug can be chosen as towing point, even in an indirect emergency and athwart drag/sea anchor towing position, the towline force has no roll effect on the hull, regardless the shape of the tug, the size and number of keels / skegs, the direction (360°) and vertical angle (0-90°) of towing, the towing force or even a sudden change in towing force.
The Nautic Arm can be applied on both new and existing tugboats and was patented in July 2008.
