Somali Pirates have hijacked a Saudi oil tanker in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Kenya. According to a spokesman of the US navy, the tanker Sirius Star is the largest vessel ever to be attacked by Somali pirates.
The tanker was transporting over two million barrels of oil. This is over a quarter of Saudi Arabia’s daily oil produce. The ship has a crew of 25 consisting of, amongst others, Britons, Croatians, Philippines, Poles and Arabs.
