Machine- en Lierenfabriek C. Kraaijeveld won the HME Innovation Award for the Safewinch. Also nominated was Huisman with their Combi Pipe Laying System.
The Safewinch is the only winch that prevents both slackness of cable and overburdening. It has an intrinsically safe design which also protects the expensive delaying mechanism and engine and minimizes wear of cable and winch.
Huisman’s Combi Pipe Laying System
For the offshore construction vessel Seven Seas Huisman designed a pipe laying system that can perform J-Lay, Reel-Lay and Flexlay underwater installation work. This means that very diverse tasks can all be performed by one ship. This saves both time and costs.
The Maritime Awards Gala 2008
The 2008 edition was the third Maritime Awards Gala. The night was presented by Roelof Hemmen and Dutch Minister for Economic Affairs, Maria van der Hoeven, presented the awards. The gala took place in the World Forum Convention Centre in The Hague. Representatives from all over maritime industry were present.
The evening started with a reception, followed by the award ceremony which had several musical performances. Afterwards, the guests sat down for dinner. The evening was concluded with drinks and merriment where a band provided musical accompaniment.
